Graduate Certificate in Leadership Communication

Research shows the best leaders and managers are outstanding communicators, enabling them to go further and faster in their careers. In this short course, you'll learn how to communicate more effectively in the workplace and assist organisations to make strategic changes.

Excellent communication skills are a powerful tool of leadership in all organisations, from small businesses to large government departments.

Leaders who possess superb written and verbal communication skills; and who can manage teams of individuals to perform at their best; play an important role in an organisation's success.

These skills are equally essential for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in public relations, marketing, or climb the ranks of management.

In this subject you'll explore the theory and practice of communication, such as writing business reports or giving professional speeches, and learn how to engage, motivate and influence people. You'll also gain an understanding of managing conflict, persuasion and negotiation, and helping organisations to implement strategic changes.

Get involved with the Management Communication Students' Association (MCSA), an award-winning student club that organises regular workshops and social events for its members.

If you wish to aspire to become a confident communicator and a great leader, this subject may be a good fit for you.

Degree Planner

Degree planner — Graduate Certificate in Leadership Communication (60 points)

Students will take four papers in total (60 points), worth 15 points each. This includes one introductory paper (15 points) at 100 or 200-level; and three advanced papers (45 points) at 300-level.

You have the option to include one elective paper at 300-level in any subject.

To enrol for the Graduate Certificate in Leadership Communication, applicants must have:

a) completed a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification; OR

b) be able to demonstrate they have adequate training, experience, and ability to proceed with the programme.

Applicants who do not meet these requirements may still be considered for special admission, subject to completing some additional qualifying papers.
